Several of WUTM's staff traveled to New York City over spring break to attend the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems (IBS) 80th Annual Media Conference.
Students were able to attend learning sessions and panels to further their broadcasting knowledge. Two staff members presented at the conference alongside Faculty Advisor, Dr. Richard Robinson. Kayla Brooks sat on a panel titled "News Radio and Your Station" alongside two CBS professionals and Jessica Davis hosted "Get Dat Money: Ways to Increase Underwriting $$," a Q&A designed to help students understand how underwriting can bring their stations forward.
Staff attended the awards ceremony on March 7 and walked away with several additions to the trophy case. WUTM's News Director, Kayla Brooks, won two first place trophies for Best Television Talk Program and Best Community News Coverage along with being a finalist in several other categories.
In total, WUTM gained 20 new awards, including an 10th consecutive Platinum Award, pushing their total count to over 300 in the past 15 years.
