The Westview Chargers will have their home opener tomorrow night as they host the Covington Chargers at UT Martin's Hardy Graham Stadium.

Both Covington and Westview come into this game 4-0 overall and 1-0 in region play. Covington is coming off a 42-0 win over Brighton last week, while Westview is coming off a 49-8 victory over Obion County Central.

Covington has came out victorious against Westview the past few years including last year's 53-7 win in Covington, but with Westview's rebuilt defense, the Chargers look to change that trend.

The Westview offense is led by highly recruited junior quarterback Ty Simpson. Simpson led all of West Tennessee last week in passing with 294 passing yards with two passing touchdowns to go along with 103 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. Be on the lookout for other Westview players including Javion Goins, Gardner Anderson, Marquis Taylor, Hayden Smith, and JT Carver to make a big impact in this game.

Covington is a team with lots of tradition and an offense primarily centered around the run game, something Westview has struggled to defend in recent years. One player to watch for Covington is senior running back Marcus Hayes as he leads the run game.

Kickoff is set for 7:30pm Friday, September 18 at UTM's Hardy Graham Stadium. Tune in to WUTM 90.3 for pre-game beginning at 7:15 and live play by play.
