The UT Martin Women’s Basketball team picked up a nice conference win on Saturday. The Skyhawks won their 3rd straight game as they beat Morehead State 82-64. Another strong shooting performance would guide the Skyhawks to the win as the Skyhawks shot 53.6 % from the floor on the night. After trailing entering the 2nd quarter, UT Martin went on an 8-0, to propel them into a lead they would not surrender. The defense was also in prime form as UT Martin forced 20 turnovers which led to 27 points while recording 13 steals. Junior forward Maddie Waldrop exploded to lead the team with a career-high 26 points and 9 rebounds on the day. Tamiah Stanford came off the bench to score 17 points and notch 5 assists, while Chelsey Perry scored 14 points despite battling foul trouble. The win was the first road victory over the Eagles since 2016 and helped the Skyhawks finish the 4-game road trip with a 3-1 record. The team returns to action on Thursday as they host conference-leader Tennessee Tech in a matchup with major OVC Tournament seeding on the line.
