UT Martin proceeds with SGA elections

The University of Tennessee at Martin's Student Government Association is holding elections for the 2020-21 school year Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8. Voting is entirely online. Polls opened at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.


UT Martin Chancellor Dr. Keith Carver and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Andy Lewter will announce the election results on Wednesday, April 8 on Facebook Live.


The executive councils are as follows:

-Martin Student Alliance Party:

Hunter McCloud: President

Sidney Church: Vice President

Jacob Butler: Secretary General

Veronica Kanka: Press Secretary

-Unity Party

Logan Hendrickson: President

Sarolyn Fox: Vice President

Cheyenne Deweese: Secretary General

Since the campaign is entirely online, parties have attempted to grab attention by hosting Facebook Live session, conducting giveaways and calling for photos of students' pets.


Current president Devin Majors chose to endorse the Unity Party, stating "they have the most well rounded and diverse group of student leaders that touch all walks of life at UT Martin."


Students are required to login to their UTM account in order to vote. The portal for voting can be found here.
