The UT Martin Baseball Team rolled to its 2nd win of the season yesterday afternoon. The Skyhawks traveled to Huntsville, Alabama to take on the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M in a midweek contest.

The Skyhawk pitching staff had a field day with the Bulldogs' lineup. Freshman Eric Steensma earned his first career start, pitching 2 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run. Senior Jeffrey O'Doherty came in to relieve Steensma in the 3rd and threw for two innings allowing just one hit.

The offensive youth movement for UTM continued as the Skyhawks entered the 3rd inning in a 2-0 deficit. Sophomore Jack Culumovic singled in the top of the 3rd to score two runs and tie the game at 2. Freshman Will LaFollette followed by giving UTM the lead by scoring a run off an error. Junior Houston Wright added to the lead with a single in the 4th. Wright and Sean Dixson combined to score the final 4 runs for UTM, as Wright posted the best game of his career after going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs on the day.

Preseason All-American Nick Wohlbold came out of the bullpen to put the finish touches on an 8-3 win and give Steensma his first Division I win.

The team returns to Alabama this weekend for the South Alabama Invitational. The Skyhawks will open tournament play with a matchup against 2019 Regular Season Big Ten champion Indiana at 1 p.m. on Friday.
