Tennessee Notches Second Win of Season

The Mississippi State Bulldogs paid the Tennessee Volunteers a visit to Neyland Stadium this past Saturday in a SEC matchup. Tennessee entered the game with a 1-4 record, while Mississippi State boasted a 3-2 record on the 2019 season.

After quarterback Brian Maurer threw an interception in the end zone on the Volunteer's first drive of the game, Tennessee struck first by taking a 7-0 lead off a Tim Jordan touchdown run. The Bulldogs were able to get on the board after nailing a field goal to bring the score to 7-3. A 49-yard field goal extended Tennessee's lead to 10-3 heading into the locker rooms.

In the second half, Jarrett Guarantano took over quarterback duties for Tennessee after Maurer left the game following an injury. The Volunteers kicked another field goal and the Bulldogs found the end zone to bring the score to 13-10. Guarantano found Tyler Byrd for another Tennessee touchdown to extend the Volunteer lead to 20-10. Tennessee went on to win by that score.

Tennessee travels to Tuscaloosa Saturday to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
