Crowds gathered to enjoy a variety of foods in Virginia Weldon Park on Friday from 4 to 8 to kick off the University of Tennessee at Martin's Family Weekend, and that was only the start of all the fun.
Families enjoyed Korean, Mexican and American food, along with a large selection of desserts. The local band
27bstroke6 performed throughout the night and novelty artists entertained kids.
That night, the university showed Avengers: End Game on campus.
Participants came out early on Saturday morning to run the Bowtie 5K and then sipped coffee and ate donuts at Donuts with Deans and City Officials at Savant Learning Systems.
At 4 p.m., football fans filed into Hardy Graham Stadium for a tailgate party with no shortage of food and entertainment. Music was provided by DJ Narleyy and families registered with Family Weekend had free access to a snack bar.
The Skyhawks faced off against Murray State Saturday night. Kick-off was at 6 p.m. UT Martin defeated Murray State by a score of 40-7 to pick up their first conference win of the season.
Freshman Quarterback John Bacchus led the team with 345 total yards and 2 total touchdowns.
The crowd celebrated the big win with a fireworks show.
Sunday morning, families were invited to a non-denominational worship service at Watkins auditorium. From 10:30 until 1:00, the dining hall served the Bowtie Brunch, hosted by Dr. Keith Carver.
