The Union City School System continues to trend upward when it comes to the ACT composite scores in Tennessee.
The ACT is a national test to measure college and career readiness.
According to the Tennessee Department of Education, Union City ranked #6 in the entire state among 127 school districts.
Mike Hutches reported the students' average is 22.8 out of 36 and that is the highest among rural West Tennessee school districts.
Tennessee students shoot for a 21 because that is the qualifier for the HOPE Scholarship and gets a lot of students into college.
