UT Martin Softball to sign 11-year-old girl

11-year-old Jada Watson, of Bardwell, Kentucky, will sign her letter of intent with the University of Tennessee at Martin's softball program tonight during an inspirational Team IMPACT Draft Day celebration, sponsored by Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

Jada is one of thousands battling cystic fibrosis, a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. Team IMPACT matches kids living with rare diseases such as CF, as honorary, active members of college athletic teams.

According to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Patient Registry, in the United States, she is one of more than 70,000 worldwide battling cystic fibrosis.

She will sign with the Skyhawks tonight at 6:00 in the Softball Locker Room.
