For the first time since 2012, the UT Martin Skyhawks defeated the Jacksonville Gamecocks. Coach Jason Simpson became the most winningest football coach in UT Martin history by getting his 85th victory which helped him past former Head Coach Bob Carroll. John Bachus III and Colton Dowell had their chemistry flowing as Dowell recorded five catches for 117 yards and one touchdown. Bachus threw for one touchdown and rushed for one more while completing 18 passes on 32 attempts for 245 yards. Terry Williams had an electric 65-yard punt return for a touchdown and Cecil Cherry led the defense with 14 tackles and five quarterback hurries. Next UT Martin will play at Austin Peay to take on the 6-3 Governors.
