Christmas Festivities are officially underway Thursday, Dec. 5 in Union City with the lighting of the community Christmas tree and the annual Christmas parade.
The Pride of Obion County, Sacchi Doss, will perform the ceremonial lighting of the tree at 5:45 p.m. and will be assisted by a special guest.
Union City Kindergartener Sofia Hernandez, who has been battling Leukemia, will help light the three while being honored by the community.
Music will accompany the lighting of the tree with performances by the Union City Elementary Chorus and the Obion County Chorus.
Following the lightning of the tree, the parade will begin at the Reelfoot Shopping Center a 7 p.m. and will run north on First Street through downtown.
