The Light Up Martin event was a success with a great crowd and a spectacular scene in downtown Martin.
Scores of people gathered in Festival Park last night at 5 p.m. to indulge in holiday music, food trucks, free hot chocolate and s'mores, and a general Christmas spirit to celebrate the beginning of the seasons in Martin.
After the merriment of the early festivities, the town Christmas tree was lit and fireworks filled the night sky to the wonderment of the crowd.
The celebration of the tree lighting rounded out and the annual City of Martin and Kiwanis Club Christmas Parade began at 7. The parade featured first responders, marching bands, floats and even Santa Claus.
