The Tennessee Department of Health confirmed 1,896 new cases of COVID-19 across the state Tuesday, September 1, bringing the state to 156,329 total cases since the pandemic started.
The department confirmed 27 additional deaths, bringing Tennessee 1,781. 2,021 people recovered from the coronavirus Tuesday, the department reported.
Weakley County has 349 active cases, which is down from last week, the department confirmed. That drop comes as Mayor Jake Bynum extended the mask mandate to the end of September.
The department reported Obion County has 277 cases, which is also down from last week.
Officials with the University of Tennessee at Martin confirmed Tuesday there are 24 active student cases and 2 faculty/staff cases.
