County clerks around Kentucky are preparing for a recanvass of the votes from the general election.
Counties will make sure the ballots were counted correctly today after the race for governor ended close. Incumbent governor Matt Bevin requested a recanvass after results showed his Democratic opponent Andy Beshear appeared to beat him by a little more than 5,000 votes.
The recanvass began statewide today at 9, and should be over within a few hours.
If the results don't change, Bevin has the option to concede or go to the state to challenge the election.
UPDATE: Governor Election Andy Beshear hosted a news conference in Frankfort.
Former Gov. Matt Bevin says he will not contest the election. County clerks reveal that Beshear won the election on Nov. 5.
