Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is ordering the closure of theaters, gyms, hair salons and other businesses where people gather, according to The Associated Press.
Fox 19 reported Beshear also said he signed an executive order for certain public-facing businesses “that encourage public congregation” to cease operation by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
It also exempts a cross-section of businesses such as grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, health care facilities, gas stations, hardware stores and hotels.
The governor also hinted that schools could be closed for longer than two weeks.
Beshear said the goal of the order is to minimize in-person interaction, the primary means of transmitting coronavirus.
