The University of Tennessee at Martin students celebrated the end of the Civil Rights Conference with health awareness. The Free Health Fair was Friday 10-3 p.m. in the Boling University Center Ballroom.
Styles on Broadway, Buff City Soap, the University of Tennessee at Martin Nursing Program and other businesses and organizations were set up to offer free giveaways, health screenings and advice.
“My favorite part is that we have a lot of different local vendors and providers and medical professionals that are willing to come help our students and to give out information,” explained Dr. Lindsay Anderson, assistant professor of Sociology.
Local vendors and medical professionals were set up to give students free vision screenings, hearing tests, information and samples from Buff City Soap, meditation techniques to reduce stress, information on health insurance, mental health services, men’s health, women’s health and suicide prevention.
There were also free snacks provided by Fresh Start in Martin.
