Cold weather hits Martin

The first freeze warning of fall was issued for all of West TN. Last night's temperatures dipped into the upper 20s with a low of 28 in the Martin area.

Plants and pets outside need extra protection on cold nights.

WBBJ reports that putting a sheet or old blanket on top of plants will help avoid the frost. Animals who are usually outside are more used to the weather, but they need hay, shavings or blankets in their houses to stay warn.

October in TN ranged from the warmest October in the beginning to the coolest at the end.

Friday's high is 51 with a low of 30. There's a frost advisory after 1 a.m.

The frost advisory remains for Saturday night with a low around 29. Sunday, though, will warm up to 55 with a low of 34.
