In the last days, there have been two accidents involving a car and a pedestrian.
On Tuesday evening, Martin Police Officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Skyhawk Parkway and Hannings Lane involving a vehicle and bicyclist. Brittany Underwood was driving, and Cameron Mason was riding the bike.
Martin EMS responded to the scene and checked the bicyclist for minor injuries, but he refused to be transported. Underwood sustained no injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
Yesterday morning, Martin Police Officers responded to the hospital in reference to an injured child that had been reportedly hit by a car. Officers discovered that Gary Shields struck the 9-year-old near the intersection of McCombs and Jackson Streets with his car.
The child suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries and has been released from the hospital. Shields was cited for failure to yield. He will appear in court today.
