A.B. Cheatham's hosts songwriting competition

A.B. Cheatham's was one of 10 West Tennessee venues for the 2020 Tennessee Songwriters' Week competition for the first time ever.

Competitor Dylan Ingram takes stage

Artists from northwest Tennessee hoping to qualify for the Memphis competition played their favorite original songs.

Jordan Skoda and Hunter Jordan, both from Martin, qualified to move on to the next stage of competition at Lafayette's Music Room on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

In the event that Skoda or Jordan cannot attend, Hogan Courtney or Cade Doyle will take their place.

Camille Noe helped plan the event, and she believes events like the competition help to exemplify how far Martin has come culturally.

"We have a really strong presence in northwest Tennessee. Martin, as a community, has become this really cool, hip place for arts and culture," said Noe.

According to their Facebook, A.B. Cheathams will continue to host its Open-Mic Fridays, which is a chance for performers of all kind to take the stage in Martin's entertainment scene.
