New Look Grizzlies Off to 1-3 Start

The Memphis Grizzlies knew that the expectation level was low for the 2019-20 season, but Memphis's young core has shown promise early on. The Grizzlies went on the road to the Miami Heat in Game 1, taking a 2 point lead into the 4th quarter before allowing 37 4th quarter points to fall 120-101. Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 17 points and chipped in 3 rebounds, while rookie Ja Morant debuted with 14 points and 4 assists.

The Grizzlies took another late lead deep into the second half in their home-opener to the Chicago Bulls, before Zach Levine's 37 points would prove to be too much in a 110-102 loss. Jackson once again led the way with a 27 point and 11 rebound double-double.

Early losses set the stage for a thrilling Sunday night home victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Morant's talents were on full display in a 134-133 overtime win. Morant scored 30 points, dished 9 assists, and blocked Nets All-Star guard Kyrie Irving's potential game-winning

shot at the end of regulation. Memphis one the game on forward Jae Crowder's game-winning buzzer-beating three-pointer as time expired in overtime.

Following the win, the Grizzlies traveled to the West Coast for a tough 120-91 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Grizzlies will continue to look their young core to grow as they return home to take on the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night.
