UT Martin Defense Sets the Tone for 35-10 Victory over Northwestern State

It was a complete performance in UT Martin's 35-10 victory against Northwestern State on Saturday. The Skyhawks found the endzone in every quarter while forcing three turnovers in the second straight win of the season.


The offense picked up right where they left off by putting up 432 total yards, and again using Peyton Logan as the main source. Logan toated the ball fourteen times for 179 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback, Keon Howard made quality decisions throughout the game by posting 172 passing yards for one touchdown and no interceptions.

Defensively, UT Martin was led in tackles by Takeem Young who totaled 10 tackles with seven of those being solo. The Hawks set up a "no-fly zone" by recording two interceptions on the night with one going to Freshman defensive back O'shae Baker and the other going to veteran linebacker John Ford.


This Saturday UT Martin heads to Jacksonville, Alabama to test their might against former OVC rival, Jacksonville State. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CST).
