Union City School System students will return to in-person learning on Monday, Sept. 14, 2020, officials announced in a press release.
Director of Schools Wes Kennedy announced the schools will return under phase 2.51, which is a mixture of Levels 2 and 3.
Phase 2.51, according to Union City School officials, means the following:
-Grades 7-12 will attend four days a week and leave Fridays open to those who are still virtually learning.
-Pre-K-6 will attend five days a week.
-Students will have their temperatures checked when entering a building or getting on the bus.
-When social distancing is not possible, students will be required to wear a mask.
-Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be available in each classroom for student use.
-There will be seating charts to make it easier to contact trace in the case of an outbreak.
-Visitors must have an appointment as well as have their temperature checked when entering the building.
-Students will have to eat lunch in their classroom or in the cafeteria, which will be at half capacity.
"After considering all factors, including the current COVID-19 case data and hearing from our teachers and the families of our students, we believe this is a good decision and the best one for all involved," Kennedy said.
