South Carolina Debate
The gloves came off during last night's debate. According to CNN, the heat was on front-runner Bernie Sanders, with the other six candidates taking shots at him in an attempt to knock him off the path to the Democratic nomination. The other candidates believe that nominating the Senator would weaken the Democratic Party in the general election, both against President Trump and in the House and Senate races. This was the last time candidates got to show who can throw the meanest punch before the South Carolina primaries, as well as Super Tuesday.
Coronavirus in the US
President Donald Trump said he will discuss the coronavirus threat at the White house news conference today. The Associated Press reports the session comes a day after he sought to minimize fears of the virus spreading widely across the US. Trump said representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will join him. AP said the CDC has warned the public to prepare for a coronavirus outbreak, and Trump said the situation is under control.
At least 17 people have been killed and 150 injured in two days of violent clashes in New Delhi between hundreds of supporters and opponents of a new law that fast-tracks citizenship for non-Muslim minorities from select countries, reported CNN. The protests started on Monday, coinciding with Trump's visit. CNN said Indians have been protesting the citizenship law for months.
