New Hampshire

CNN -- Votes are already rolling in from the New Hampshire primaries, which is the second stop on the campaign trial for the Democratic presidential candidates. Senator Bernie Sanders is the favorite to win, but Senator Amy Klobuchar is hoping a recent change in the state will help her showing. Senator Elizabeth Warren and former vice president Joe Biden, who had disappointing results in Iowa, hope New Hampshire voters favor them.

Budget Proposal

CNN -- The White House has submitted a $4.8 trillion federal budget proposal for 2021, and some of the changes may cause controversy. The proposal would cut billions of dollars in federal support from Medicaid, food stamps and other safety net programs, while largely saving Medicare programs that benefit seniors. It would also cut an existing student loan forgiveness program for public workers, which is quite the contrast to Democratic candidates that want to wipe all student debt. NASA would get a $25 billion boost from President Trump's plan, with the aim of sending astronauts back to the moon in 2024. Despite calling for major cuts, the budget would not eliminate the national deficit over the next 10 years.

Coronavirus

CNN -- The number of deaths from the Wuhan coronavirus has risen to more than 1,000, with all but two of those deaths in mainland China. The World Health Organization has arrived in China to help control the illness. Today also marks the end of the quarantine period for the evacuees from Wuhan. No signs of the virus were detected in the group. 24 Americans are among the 135 people diagnosed with coronavirus aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship.
