Immigrants Issues Awareness Seminar

The University of Tennessee at Martin hosted a seminar about the issues that immigrants in Tennessee face in Watkins Auditorium on Wednesday afternoon.

Karen Latus, a Spanish teacher from Knoxville Tennessee, displayed a presentation about the obstacles these immigrants go through, and offered advice on how to provide assistance to them.

Topics discussed were: education, employment, medical care, holding law enforcement accountable, and how to properly fight back against these issues.

"I hear the stories of the children effected everyday, and as an adult in their life I have a responsibility to make sure they are safe and have a chance in life," said Karen Latus.
