MARTIN, Tenn.– In celebration of World College Radio Day and the University of Tennessee at Martin's 125th anniversary, WUTM 90.3 hosted a week of special programming, community engagement activities and giveaways to thank listeners and supporters.
Under the theme "WUTM's Retro Radio: Celebrating 125 Years of UT Martin," the station dedicated the week to giving back to the community that makes its programs possible.
"This campus is sweet and makes this station even sweeter," said Carson Alexander, WUTM Digital Media Director. "We wanted to give back with a grateful heart as we celebrate another year of soaring together."
Throughout the week, WUTM engaged with the campus community through several initiatives:
Thank You Records Project: The WUTM team created custom "thank you records," pairing music with original artwork, which were presented as tokens of appreciation to professors, faculty and staff who support the station.
Athletics Appreciation: Staff members visited UT Martin Athletics facilities to distribute candy and gifts to student athletes and coaches. "It's our way of saying thank you for all the support they give to WUTM and the work we do at the station," Katelyn Cohee, WUTM Program Director noted.
On Friday, October 3, 2025, WUTM marked World College Radio Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the UT Martin Boling University Center North Patio. Students had the opportunity to spin the WUTM prize wheel to win prizes and station merchandise.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., WUTM staff and radio practicum students conducted a live remote broadcast, bringing the energy of college radio directly to the campus community.
