The UT Martin Women’s Basketball team roared to a big win last night. The Skyhawks defeated in-state rival Tennessee Tech 86-65, to secure their second straight win and to sweep the regular-season series with the Golden Eagles. After watching their early lead evaporate, the Skyhawks took over the game with a 20-0 run and did not look back. The win keeps UT Martin in a tie for first in the OVC standings with Belmont entering the final 3 games of the season.

It was another impressive night for the offense, as the Skyhawks shot 55.8 percent from the floor and put four players in double figures. Maddie Waldrop led the team with 18 points and 11 rebounds on the night, while Chelsey Perry scored 22 points in 27 minutes. Kyannah Grant and Brittni Moore were also in double figures as Grant scored 16 points with 4 assists, and Moore added 12 points with 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

The team returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Jacksonville State for their final road game of the season. Tipoff from Pete Matthews Coliseum is scheduled for 1:45.
