The UT Martin Women's Basketball team continued its hot start to conference play over the weekend. The Skyhawks wrapped up a 4 game homestand with big wins over conference rivals Austin Peay and Murray State.

On Thursday evening, the Skyhawks rolled past Murray State with a dominant 98-56 win at the Elam Center. Reigning OVC Player of the Week Chelsey Perry was the main catalyst for the Skyhawks, scoring 30 points and collecting 11 rebounds on the evening.

Saturday's contest against Austin Peay was not so easy. The offense was at a premium for UT Martin who only shot 27% from the field in the first 3 quarters. The poor offensive performance led to an 18 point deficit in the 3rd quarter, which still sat at 10 points with 5 minutes to play. Once again Perry came through in the clutch. Over the last 4:44 of the game, the Skyhawks went on a 15-1 run, including 13 points from Perry to claim a 65-61victory.

The 2 wins give UT Martin 6 in a row since the turn of the new year and an unbeaten start to conference play, which ties them with Tennessee Tech for the top spot in the league standings. The team returns to action Thursday as they travel to Eastern Illinois.
