The UT Martin Softball team came up just short yesterday at nationally ranked SEC and in-state opponent Tennessee. The Skyhawks fell by a score of 3-2 to the #20 Lady Vols.

The team proved up to the task early as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Paige Clark drew first blood, by scoring off an error in the bottom of the 1st, followed by Aalia Bivens scoring Chelsey Gore off of a sacrifice fly in the 3rd. In the circle, all 3 Skyhawk pitchers saw action and combined to allow only 3 runs and 6 hits on the day, with Erin Gallagher getting tagged with the loss on the day.

The Lady Vols would come from behind to tie the game at 2, before scoring a walk-off win by way of an RBI double in the bottom of the 7th.

The team returns to action on Friday as they travel for the Mississippi State Snowman Classic. The Skyhawks will play Alcorn State in their first game of the tournament.
