The UT Martin Football team received national recognition for its performance over the weekend. The Skyhawks were named the STATS FCS Team of the week for its 38-to-28 victory over conference rival Eastern Kentucky.
The team played well in all 3 phases of the game. Offensively, the team racked up over 400 yards of offense, including a season-high 234 rushing yards on the day. On the defensive side of the ball, the Skyhawks limited on of the OVC's best rushing attacks to just 94 yards on the day. On special teams, Terry Williams returned a punt 71 yards to set up a score, and Ryan Courtright connected on a 22-yard field goal in the win.
The win improved the Skyhawks to 2-0 in conference play and 3-2 on the season. The team returns to action on Saturday as they travel to take on in-state rival Tennessee Tech.
