Day 1: UTM Homecoming 2022 Rope Pull

Updated: Sep 27, 2022

Will the reigning champions Chi Omega and Alpha Gamma Rho be able to keep their titles of Rope Pull Champs?

UT Martin's annual rope pull starts today, Monday, September 26th, at 4 pm behind the Student Recreation Center. The Student Alumni Council will be welcoming the sisters of Chi Omega and the sisters of Alpha Omicron Pi to kick off the week's bracket. Following them will be the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha to pull against the brothers of Alpha Gamma Rho.

That leaves the rest of the competitors to finish out the first round of elimination on Tuesday, September 27th. The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi will pull against the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha, and the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon will pull against the brothers of Kappa Alpha Order.

Those who lose today and tomorrow will be pulling for third and fourth places on Thursday at 4. The winners for the next two days will pull for the championship on Friday at 3:30.

Rope Pull is a University of Tennessee at Martin tradition. Teams face each other in a game of tug of war in "the pit" outside the Student Rec Center on Mount Pelia Road. Rope Pull became a part of the UT Martin Homecoming in the early 1970s and has been a long-standing favorite ever since.
