Both Westview teams to play for a state tournament berth

For the first time since 2016, Westview High School has both its boys' and girls' basketball teams playing for a state tournament berth.

On Wednesday, the Lady Chargers defeated Jackson South Side 48-40 at home to capture the region 7-AA championship. Jada Harrison lead all scorers with 31 points.


The Lady Chargers will host Fayette-Ware on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. for sub-state. This winner of that matchup will advance to the state tournament at MTSU in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.


WUTM will be at Westview for live coverage beginning at 6:50pm.

 

On Tuesday, Westview Chargers defeated South Gibson 63-50 on the road to advance to the region championship game. The Chargers were lead in scoring by Garner Anderson who had 22 points and Quincy Allen with 20.


The Chargers traveled to Jackson on Thursday to take on Jackson South Side in the region 7-AA championship game. Westview fell to the Hawks 68-45.


The Westview Chargers will head on the road to Boliver to take on the Bears at 7:00pm. The winner of that game will also advance to the state tournament in Murfreesboro.
