McCracken County teen takes home first place in spelling bee

A McCracken County High School student took home first place at the sixth annual West Kentucky Education Cooperative Regional Deaf and Hard of Hearing Spelling Bee Tuesday, Dec. 3.

According to WPSD, Samuel Salus started studying months ago for the competition.

In this spelling bee, words are signed to the competitors, and they use a white board to write the answer. Samuel will advance to the state spelling bee in March.
