2023 SGA Homecoming King and Queen Nominations

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

The Student Government Association is now accepting nominees to run for the 2023 Homecoming King and Queen.

Students who are interested in running for Homecoming Court must be a full-time UTM student, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5, be sponsored by a registered student organization, complete the nomination form by September 29th, and be confirmed by their organization's president. Complete nominee rules can be found on SGA's website.

Iman Ahmed is the Elections Commissioner overseeing this year's voting. This year, her goal is to get more students involved in running for the Homecoming Court. She hopes to accomplish this goal by tabling in the University Center to help "inform students that anyone who meets the requirements above is eligible to run."

"It's important for students to run for court because it is a way for them to get involved on campus outside of the normal things that their clubs and organizations do. It is also a fun time to meet and get to know new people around campus."

Although not every student may be interested in running, all are still encouraged to vote. Elections will take place online on Wednesday, October 18th, from 10 am – 6 pm.

The top five candidates for King and Queen are announced as the Homecoming Court before Homecoming begins. The final naming of King and Queen is announced during the homecoming game at halftime.

Registered student organizations may only sponsor one candidate for Homecoming Court. The 2023 Nomination Form can be accessed here.

Any election questions can be directed to the SGA Elections Commissioner: Iman Ahmed at imaaahme@ut.utm.edu.
