In their final appearance in the orange and blue Maddie Waldrop and Chelsey Perry did exactly what they've done ever since they stepped on campus... win.
The two seniors combined for 42 points in UT Martin's 64-59 win over Illinois State in the WNIT consolation regional finals. Waldrop poured in 24 points with eight rebounds to lead the Hawks in points and boards; Perry tacked on 18 points to pair with six rebounds.
UT Martin was off to a hot start in the first quarter by slapping 22 points on the board compared to the Redbirds 9. Illinois State wouldn't go down without a fight and put together their own 20-point quarter in third to set-up a thrilling finish to the season.
The Skyhawks fought tooth and nail in the final quarter and it showed on the scoreboard; UT Martin completed the 2020-21 season with a 64-59 victory to send Maddie Waldrop and Chelsey Perry out on a high note. The win marked the 22nd of the season for the Hawks and the 86th for the two graduating seniors.
