Democrats celebrated wins in some of the reddest states. According to WPSD, Andy Beshear declared a win over incumbent Republican Governor Matt Bevin in Kentucky. In Virginia, Democrats won majorities in both the House and Senate. Republicans held onto the governor's office in Mississippi, beating a veteran Democrat's bid for another potential upset.


News on smoking studies

People who smoke tobacco may be at a higher risk of developing depression and schizophrenia, according to a new study. This research comes from the University of Bristol and contributes to the evidence that smoking can have a negative effect on mental health. The researchers used genetic data to examine cause and effect relationships with smoking. According to Lancet Psychiatry Commission, people with mental illnesses die up to 20 years earlier than the general population.


Impeachment Inquiry

A top US diplomat revised his testimony to confirm a quid pro quo. According to CNN, Gordon Sondland, the US ambassador to the EU, says he did tell a top aide to the Ukraine President that US security aid was linked to investigate into former Vice President Joe Biden and the 2016 election.
