The Fall 2020 semester is coming to an end, and that means a new group of University of Tennessee at Martin students are getting ready to graduate.
However, on November 21, commencement will look a little different due to the pandemic.
Potential graduates reserved their spots for the event and based on the numbers, each student is allotted four tickets for guests.
Kurt McGuffin, Director of Athletics and a coordinator for commencement, said they plan to execute commencement while still following CDC guidelines.
"We're requiring masks because it is inside," McGuffin said. "Athletics is seating people in groups of four."
Commencement is divided into three sessions to accommodate the students and McGuffin says they will be cleaning the Elam Center after each session.
Even though this year's commencement will be different, McGuffin is still optimistic.
"It's sad that we can't have a normal commencement, but I think it's going to be better than we anticipated. We're excited for it."
Commencement will be streamed live on UT Martin’s Facebook page for all of the friends and family who cannot attend.
