UT Martin Women's Basketball Comes Up Just Short at Southeast Missouri

The UT Martin Women's Basketball team took a tough loss last night on the road at Southeast Missouri, snapping a 5-game winning streak.

The Skyhawks led by as much as 9 points in the 1st half but saw the lead eviscerated by a 14-0 SEMO run in the 3rd quarter. The run by the Redhawks proved too much for UT Martin to overcome, as Chelsey Perry's potential game-winning 3 would not fall at the buzzer.

Offensively it was not UT Martin's night, as the Skyhawks struggled shooting the ball at just 40.3% and 4 of 20 from the 3 point line. Perry led all scorers with 36 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks, while Maddie Waldrop contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds on the night.

The loss moves UT Martin into a 3-way tie atop the OVC standings with Belmont and SEMO, with just 5 games remaining in the regular season.

The team returns to action Saturday as they host Eastern Illinois. Tipoff from the Elam Center is at 2:00. You can catch all the action live on WUTM-FM 90.3 "The Hawk".
